About the mitigation measure manual

The target group are design engineers, entreprenners and municipalities working with natural hazards such as flooding, landslides and snow avalanches. The phases of planning and management, operation and maintenance will be most relevant for the last two target groups.

The mitigation measure manual is available online and in Norwegian only. It is not a textbook, but rather describes the work process and important points of decision for a project from the start of the planning phases until it is in operation. The manual focuses on physical mitigation measures, but measures such as administrative initiatives, oganisational measures and "leaving the nature to its own" may also be viable solutions.

The content is organized in modules. A module covers a working process or planning unit. Modules are linked and toghether they form a guidance through the life circle of a mitigation mearsure.

The manual might contain errors, and NVE reserves the right to make changes and improvments in the manual.
